Understanding VMware Snapshots

One of the great selling points in shifting to a virtual solutions can be the protection offered by snapshots when making major changes to your servers, its also unfortunately one of the most mis-understood elements of the features offered by VMware.  We are often faced with situations where self-build and self-educated clients have installed a VMware environment and have selected Snapshots as their preferred backup method – SNAPSHOTS ARE NOT BACKUPS!
